Cosmetic tattooing FAQs

Q: How long will the eyebrows last once they are done?

A: This will depend entirely on your skin. Everyones eyebrows will heal differently. There are heaps of factors such as lifestyle, skincare routine, environmental factors and diet. Some skin types will hold onto the pigment better than others. It may last up to 12-18 months, sometimes less sometimes longer.

A retouch is recommended after 12 months, if this is any longer like 18 months than it might be an initial appointment again, this just depends on how the pigment held in your skin.

Q: Does it hurt?

A: Everyone experiences different levels of pain, some may feel nothing while others may feel some pain. Most people describe it as a scratching feeling. Numbing cream is applied before and during your appointment to minimise pain and ensure your experience is one that is comfortable.

Q: How long does the treatment take to apply?

A: For your initial appointment, please allow between 2.5-3 hours all up, this includes your consultation, the time the numbing cream is on and choosing colours and designing the shape. The actual microblading or tattoo part of the treatment is around 30 minutes, maybe a bit more.

Q: I have an old eyebrow tattoo, can you go over it?

A: Please email and let me know if you have had previous cosmetic tattooing done before. A lot of old work that has been done many years ago was most likely done with a machine and a different type of ink. This has left many of you with heavy scar tissue and faded out to funny colours. If your eyebrow colour is still prominent or too dark to work with, we may have to suggest alternative treatments to help fade and conceal the old tattoo.

The problem with going over some old work is that the skin may have lots of scar tissue which will not hold onto the new pigment implanted.

Q: Do you draw them on first?

A: Yes!  Always. Your eyebrow area is measured and a template is drawn on to follow as a guideline, you may bring in photos of how you would like them but please remember that what may look good on one person may not be suitable for you as everyone has different eyebrow and facial features.

Q: Who is not suitable for cosmetic tattooing?

A: Anyone:

  • Suffering from cancer/undergoing chemotherapy
  • Suffers from major heart problems such as stroke/heart attack
  • Has diabetes type 1 (type 2 will require a medical clearance from your doctor)
  • Problems with skin healing
  • Blood disease
  • Weak immune system
  • Pregnant/breastfeeding
  • Anyone taking doxycycline, roaacutane or anything blood or skin thinners. You must be off this medication for 6 months before this treatment.
Q: Will it look natural? Do I still have to tint my eyebrows?

A: When this treatment is performed the eyebrows are mapped out to your bone structure and facial features. This really ensures that the brows are going to look natural. The colour used is matched with your natural eyebrow hairs. If you would like really thick eyebrows it is best that you naturally have a good amount of hair to start with. If you naturally have very light or blonde eyebrows and wish for much darker brows, you may still have to tint your eyebrows for it to blend in, eyebrow tattooing does not replace tinting.

Q: Will I still have to wax/pluck my eyebrows?

A: Yes you will still have to maintain your eyebrows, your hair is still going to grow after this treatment.

Q: How do I look after them?

A: For two weeks you wont be able to get your eyebrows wet, I will also give you a sample pot of aftercare cream and a aftercare sheet to keep handy. I have a YouTube video on aftercare on my YouTube.

Q: Do you require a deposit?

A: Yes, a $150 deposit is required to secure your booking. It is non-refundable. Your booking will not be is confirmed until the deposit has been received.

Q: Do you accept EFTPOS?

A: Yes. Which ever payment method works for you, I can also take bank transfer or cash.

Q: Do you accept ZIPPAY?

A: Not yet! But I am looking into this.

Eyelash Extention FAQs

Q: How long do eyelash extensions last?

A: The longevity of your eyelash extensions will depend solely on your eyelash cycle which is four to six weeks. There are other contributing factors such as your skin type, sleeping habits and home care. It is recommended to have a refill, follow up appointment, every 2-3 weeks to keep them looking luscious and full.

Q: Will I be able to feel them on my eyes? How do they feel wearing them?

A: Bloom’s lashes are man made 100% vegan silk lashes which mean they are very light. Most of my clients tell me that they cannot even feel them.

Q: How long does it take to apply eyelash extensions?

A: This depends on the type of full set of lashes you are having and how many natural lashes you have. Classic eyelash extensions take 1.15min to apply, where Russian volume lashes can take up to 2 hours plus.

Q: How many lashes do you put on?

A: Bloom don’t charge by how many lashes we put on – we keep going until there is none left to extend! Normally this is between 150-200 lashes.

Q: Can I wear mascara?

A: It is not recommended. Not even on your bottom lashes. Mascaras contain oils and products that will break down the glue and also prevent good adhesion at your refill appointments. Bloom’s lashes are also silk, which means they are super soft and delicate. Mascara will collapse the fans made for your volume lashes resulting in your natural lashes being damaged.

Q: What maintenance is required?

A: Bloom recommend that you lightly brush your eyelash extensions after washing your lashes to ensure they remain straight and in line with your natural lashes. You will be shown how to wash and care for them at your appointment. We recommend refills every 2-3 weeks.

Q: How long does it take to get refills?

A: Approximately 60-120 minutes depending on the style of lashes chosen and the amount of lashes required. Please advise if you have lost over 50% of your extensions, as the time taken will require a fullset.

Q: What would stop me from having eyelash extensions?

A: If you have existing eye conditions or allergies to man made fibers. Please consider consulting a doctor before your appointment or book in for a free test patch 48 hours prior to your appointment.

Q: Eyelash extension aftercare?

A: Please do not touch your eyelashes for 12 hours. In addition to this, do not submerge your lashes into water for 24 hours following the application.
